Losing a loved one unexpectedly is always a tragic event. In some cases, the loss can be devastating in more ways than one, especially if a family relied on their loved one for financial support. If a person is killed on the job, it may be important for surviving family members to look into their options for potentially obtaining workers’ compensation benefits.

One family in California may need information on such benefits after a recent work-related accident. Reports stated that the incident involved a vehicle and a car wash worker. Apparently, a vehicle was going through an automatic car wash, and it is suspected that, at some point, the floor mat in the vehicle became stuck on the accelerator. As a result, when an employee started the vehicle to move it to the drying area, the vehicle immediately drove forward, hitting another worker.

The worker who was hit became stuck under the vehicle, and he was dragged approximately 20 feet before the car came to a stop on the road. Emergency personnel came to the scene and took the man to an area hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. It did not appear that any other individuals were injured in the accident.

Many surviving family members may not know that they could qualify for workers’ compensation benefits after a fatal work-related accident. As a result, it may be vital for this California man’s family to gain information on their available options. They may also want to seek assistance with the filing process, as it can be difficult to understand the paperwork and file it correctly when already dealing with emotional turmoil.
